Winter Trips To Warmer Destinations

In the middle of winter, you may be dreaming of visiting a place that is much warmer and without any snow or fierce winds. If you want to do some traveling this winter, there are a few warm weather destinations that are not only popular with travelers, but also beautiful. Three travel destinations you should look into include Antigua, Perth, Australia, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, or Singapore.

Antigua is an island that is close to Bermuda. This island has many beaches for you to visit, water activities, and great food options. If you envision yourself relaxing on the beach, you should consider visiting Antigua. The average temperature is usually 80 degrees, which will make you forget about winter very quickly. Many people visit this island each year, so you will have the opportunity to meet new friends from all over the world. In addition to beautiful beaches, there are many hotels and resorts for you to stay in while on vacation.

If you don't want to spend your winter vacations on an island, visit Perth, Australia. In addition to beaches, you will be able to drive to Sydney and see many historic buildings and enjoy the culture Australia has to offer. This is a great place to spend winter holidays because you will be able to shop, see a show, meet new people, and enjoy the ocean breezes. With surfing and other outdoor activities, you will never be bored.

Rio de Janeiro, which is located in Brazil, is the place to go if you want to visit the beach and enjoy the nightlife. With many activities including the legendary Carnival, you will be able to sample great food, listen to music, and soak in all the local color that Rio has to offer. This city is also a great place to sightsee with many religious statues and buildings to see. When you visit Rio, you will never want to leave. With 75 miles of beaches, you will be able to spend the day working on your tan and participating in the nightlife once the sun goes down.

Singapore has four official languages include Chinese, so you will definitely be able to learn more about the culture during your visit. With many small towns surrounding the city, you will never be bored. Relax and eat good food and meet interesting people from all over the world.

If you want to travel to a warmer place, but you don't want to leave the US, how about traveling to Florida and visiting amusement parks and beaches. You can buy day passes to Disney World or Busch Gardens and enjoy rides and food. These vacations are a lot less expensive than a trip to an island or foreign land. Discover vacation spots that are closer to home when you want to get away from the cold weather.

How A Tour Guide Can Help Your Vacation

When planning your vacation, you make sure all arrangements are made in advance. These may include rental car, air travel, hotel, and tickets to events that may be very popular. But do you put as much effort into packing as you should? Most people do not and find themselves without many items once they arrive. Being prepared means thinking ahead and packing items that will help you have a great time when on vacation.

Most people spend the majority of their time packing clothing they will not wear. Pack a maximum of seven outfits when going on vacation. You will be able to mix and match pieces to create even more outfits. Depending on where you are going, pack the appropriate clothing so you will not be too warm or cold. Packing items together as a way to save space will allow you to take less luggage on your trip. Putting socks into your shoes, bringing clothing that is light and not bulky will also take up less room.

If you will be traveling with children, the same clothing rules apply. Because children have a tendency to get their clothing dirty more often than adults, pack a few extra shirts so they will have enough for the entire vacation. Older children should be allowed to pack their own clothing. This will give them more responsibility and give you more time to focus on other items that need to be packed.

Writing a list of all other items besides clothing will help with travel preparation. Remember to bring medications, first aid kit, toothpaste, and any other items you feel are important. Having a list will make it easier for you to remember everything you will need. Keeping these items in a small back pack will make them easier to find when you need them.

The last items you should remember to pack are travel directions. Knowing where you are going will make it much easier to get there. If traveling by car, buy a map or a portable GPS unit so you will always know where you are and how far you are from your destination. If traveling overseas, make sure you have your passport and visas handy.

While you can never prepare for everything that will happen during your trip, you should try to plan in advance, especially if you will be traveling with children. Another way to plan for your vacation is to think about which activities you plan on participating in. If you will be taking a tour, call the tour guide company to see if there is anything special you should bring with you.

Preparing for a trip may mean making a small trip to local stores in the area you are vacationing in. Most hotels and resorts have toothpaste and other items in case you forget anything. Just ask at the desk and get what you need.

All About Traveling To Italy

When considering a trip to Europe, Italy is often one of the main places of interest. In particular, Rome is a really popular destination and it is packed full of history. So if you are looking to go on an interesting vacation which is packed with plenty of ancient ruins and places of interest then Rome is certainly a place which you should consider.

Why Choose Rome?

In Rome there are approximately 2.7 million people. Its climate is extremely hot and dry within the summer months but incredibly rainy in the winter. If you are thinking of traveling there you will need a passport but if you only intend to stay for around 90 days then you will not need a visa.

If you want to have the best possible vacation in Rome then it would be best not to go during peak times. Off peak times are between October-March and it is generally a lot quieter then and you can enjoy your trip a little bit more than you would in the summer months. It would be a good idea to book a hotel which is situated within the historic district of Rome and the Hotel de Russie is one which should certainly be considered. There you will get to see the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps too.

Generally it is a lot better to go by foot to most places in Rome. That way you do not miss anything and you will be able to go at your own pace. Due to the fact that there is plenty to see, it would be better if you made a list beforehand of where exactly you want to go. There will usually be a few things which you would really like to see and so if you see them first you will be able to see other things too in your own time. Without a plan of action you could end up missing out on some of the things which you wanted to see and so it is always better to be prepared. It may be a good idea to book a guided tour as these can easily be arranged at the hotel which you are staying in and they will help you to see things you would not necessarily see yourself.

No matter where you decide to go in Rome, there are some places which you should definitely opt to see. These include the Coliseum, the Foro Romano and the Pantheon. The coliseum is by far one of the most popular tourist attractions in the whole of Europe and you can choose to go around it on your own or take a tour with a guide. It is advisable to phone ahead to see what the opening times are during your stay as it does vary throughout the year.

Overall there is plenty to see and do in Rome and it is certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations within Europe.

Travel To Machu Picchu

One of the most visited sites in the world today by travelers is Machu Picchu. It is located in Cuzco, Peru in the high Andes Mountains. It is approximately 724 miles away from Lima, the Peruvian capital. A typical trip by land on a bus takes about 20 hours. One could also take a flight and arrive there in a heartbeat of one hour. The starting point usually begins in Lima.

The ruins sit surrounded by the Andes Mountains at about 11,024 feet above sea level. The name Machu Picchu literally means “old peak”, translated from the Quechua language. It was discovered by Hiram Bingham on July 24, 1911 while he was in charge of a Yale University expedition. It was in this landscape that the Incas built Machu Picchu at the end of the fourteenth century.

The climate is mild, warm and damp. It has a year round average temperature of 55F during the day. There are typically two seasons, a rainy season which lasts from November to March and dry season, which lasts from April to October. Most travelers prefer to travel to the site during the dry season.

Personal Travel Experience

I had the pleasure of visiting Machu Picchu 22 years ago around this time when I was a small child. I was accompanied by my mother. The scenery was beautiful and breathtaking. We took a train from the city of Cuzco and it took us just a few hours to get to Machu Picchu. Then we had to take a small bus up the trail all the way to the top. Nowadays, there are two ways to connect from Cuzco. One is a Tourist Train, which only operates in the high season. The trip takes four hours and returns in the evening. Then there is also the Autovagon, a tourist service that takes three hours to get to the site with an evening return trip as well. Both leave in the early morning hours.

We highly recommend you to put Machu Picchu, Peru as one of your top travel destinations to visit in the near future. The experience will be unforgettable.

Cruise Packing Tips

Packing Tips

Packing for a cruise can be quite a daunting task - when else are you expected to show up in everything from a bathing suit to an evening gown, yet are allotted such little closet space? Some things to consider when packing your bags:

At the cruise terminal - or even at the airport if you have an air/sea or a land/sea package - your luggage is taken by the porters to be brought to your room. The cruise line will tell you that it is possible that you won't have your bags until after dinner (it is generally quicker, but there are no guarantees), so you want to be sure to have bathing suits, dinner clothes and your toiletries in your carry-on just in case.

Another thing you want to think about when packing is what type of luggage will work out best. Some cruise lines offer to store your empty bags during the duration of the cruise (call ahead to check), but if they don't, you may want to consider soft-sided luggage - storage in your cabin is at a premium! - and if there are several people sharing the same cabin, it would be even more helpful if your luggage nested inside each other.

Now that we've discussed your actual luggage - and how long it might be before you see it again – perhaps the last item to consider is what you are putting in the bags. There are many things to consider - formal and semi-formal dinners, sporting events, shore excursions, casual days - and because of the whole space issue, you want to be sure to choose wisely. Consider clothing in complementary colors, so that every item matches other things you have brought, think wrinkle-free and low maintenance as much as possible, and cut out excess as much as possible (large shampoo bottles, etc.). If you are traveling with other people - in your cabin or otherwise - see if there is anything that can be shared, such as irons, steamers, hair dryers and similar supplies. Remember, it was no less a person that Sherlock Holmes (even though he’s fictional!) who pointed out that if the walls don’t distend, then only the absolute necessities belong with you, and you need to keep them accessible!

Purchasing Insurance For Travel Tours

To purchase or not to purchase travel insurance, that is the question. If you have done some research or talked to a travel agent, you might have been told that insurance is absolutely necessary. After all, you have put a lot of money into airfare and booking your hotel. But does that mean you need to spend more on insurance?

Travel insurance was created to make sure your money is refunded should something go wrong at the last second. This includes many circumstances that would prevent you from traveling, like illness or a flight being canceled due to inclimate weather. If your plans are put on hold, at least you will get your money back. But there are ways this insurance can help you while you are on vacation as well.

When taking travel tours abroad, check and see if your normal health insurance will cover you in a foreign country. Often, plans either do not cover you, or are just not accepted abroad. Should this be the case for you, then invest in travel insurance. This way, you are sure to be covered if you need medical attention while on vacation.

Unfortunately, travelers these days need to be aware of terrorism when they travel abroad. Should terrorist activity occur where you are about to vacation, your airline is not necessarily required to refund the cost of your ticket. However, if you have travel insurance, you will be covered.

Flight cancellation is another eventuality covered by travel insurance. Any number of things could prevent you from leaving the ground. You might have scheduled your vacation during the worst snow storm in twenty years, or maybe you airline just goes out of business. Travel insurance protects the money you have invested in your ticket. Perhaps circumstances in your life prevent you from taking advantage of vacation deals. Should somebody in your family die or become ill, you can cancel your plans without penalty. Whatever may happen to prevent you from leaving, you are covered.

If you loose your luggage, you will also be covered by travel insurance. Usually, the baggage is returned by the airline; though, sometimes, it is simply misplaced and never found. Or, your luggage might be returned with items missing. Travel insurance gives you the money to replace anything that can’t be found so you can enjoy your trip as planned.

When deciding on a specific insurance company, it is a good idea to research your options before choosing. Different plans work best for specific vacations. Perhaps you are not buying a plane ticket, but taking a cruise. If you travel often for business or pleasure, you can even purchase a policy that covers you for extended periods of time. These plans save you the hassle of buying a policy for each individual trip. Ask questions before you make a final decision to be sure that you are getting all the coverage you need. You wouldn’t want to insure yourself, only to find that your particular vacation disaster is not covered under your policy.
